In news that should surprise no one, our new Governor Gavin Newsom has already shown his true colors as a human being. Only a few weeks as Governor and Newsom already has plans to move his family out of the Governor’s Mansion Sacramento and into a $3.7 million six-bedroom home in Fair Oaks California.
In a story published the LA Times a spokesman for the Governor said; “They will move their four kids, two dogs and bunny rabbit in a few months…They love being a permanent part of the Sacramento community and are excited about living, working and raising a family here.”
Except there’s one issue, Fair Oaks California is not really “Sacramento.” It’s described as being part of of the Sacramento-Arden-Arcade-Roseville Metropolitan Area. Which if you aren’t familiar with what that means, it’s the equivalent of saying you are part of the Manhattan community because you live in Jersey City which is technically the New York Metropolitan area. You aren’t part of the Sacramento community, you live safely outside of it.
The Newsom’s claimed that they wanted to move to this house because their children were already enrolled in middle school (which is a solid reason), except I would believe that it has more to do with the fact that the Governor’s Mansion is beneath the Newsoms.
According to the real estate websites Zillow and Redfin, the newly purchased 12,000 square-foot Fair Oaks house sits on a 6.72-acre lot. Along with a separate guest house, the Mediterranean-style home has a pool, tennis courts, a wine cellar, spa, cathedral ceilings and finished basement.
Click said the Newsoms paid cash for the house and that couple plans to sell their current Bay Area home. The 4,000 square-foot home in Marin County is worth $3.7 million, according to Zillow.
The thought of owning almost 7 acres of land in California is a pipe dream to most Californians who can barely find a half an acre of land for less than $1 million. Oh, and if you don’t think you can get rich in the public service realm of politics, notice the Newsoms paid cash for their home. Nothing like dropping $4 million on a home because you have that much laying around.
Now you could be saying, of course it’s for the children that makes sense. That could be an honorable thing to do by looking out for your children’s education. But what’s not honorable is not personally living up to the ideals you campaigned on. He campaigned on equality, helping the poor, make the rich pay their fair share, and most of all diversity.
For one, the neighborhood of Fair Oaks has a median family income of $80,000, which is above the average for the state. Second, you know that $4 million dollars they paid for with cash? Well the money came through a limited liability company which Newsom is both a cousin and business partner with. So maybe using the LLC to skirt around some business taxes down the road.
But the most alarming thing is that for a Governor who fully supports the idea that “diversity is our strength”, is that according to 2010 Census statistics, Fair Oaks is 86% White. Compare that with Sacramento, the community the Newsoms are abandoning, which is 45% White. So much for promoting diversity.
The truth of the matter is, this should not be a shock to anyone who follows leftist politics in today’s day and age. The old adage comes up time and time again “Rules for thee, but not for me.”
For those who voted for Newsom, buckle up because this is only the beginning. The Newsoms will continue to promote policies that make great speeches and buzzwords, but in the end, they won’t subscribe to any of them. Think the Newsoms are going to subscribe to any sort of single payer health plan if they implement it? Nope. Think they are going to pay their fair share of taxes, either personally or with their business? Fat chance. Think they are going to promote integration of “diversity” all across California including in their white bread Fair Oaks suburb? Don’t hold your breath.
Leftists are great at promoting ideas and virtues that the plebes must subscribe to. But when it comes to them adhering to policies? Not on your life. They rail about how climate change and fossil fuels are ruining our planet, therefore us plebes must sacrifice our hard earned money through one tax or another to save the planet. Then they jet off to this conference or that conference on their private jets burning up more fossil fuel. They buy huge homes that require enormous amounts of energy (I wonder how much electricity it takes to run a pool, wine cellar, and spa in one house).
Don’t be surprised when the Newsoms take more actions that don’t fall in line with their espoused values and policies. Remember, rules and regulations are for the little people, not for those who can afford $4 million for a home in a predominantly white neighborhood.
